Sell a Project in Romania

You have built value through land rights, grid access, permits and development. The next step is to turn that work into a transaction with a suitable buyer, a coherent project file and terms you understand before committing.

Solar PV, wind, BESS and hybrid projects — from development to operational assets.

Present your project for sale →

Start with your situation

For project owners, developers and authorised representatives considering a full sale, a partial exit or a joint venture.

Clear commercial terms

Success fee of 3–6%, depending on the project and exclusivity. Exclusive mandates attract a lower fee; non-exclusive mandates attract a higher fee. The precise percentage, calculation basis, payment trigger and treatment of partial transactions are agreed before the mandate.

A good project must be understandable, verifiable and capable of being acquired.

Selling a Romanian solar, wind or BESS project starts before the first offer. A buyer needs to understand what it is acquiring, what has been resolved and which obligations or investments remain. When those answers are scattered across developers, advisers and documents, a price discussion can become a renegotiation about risk.

We start with your objective: a full exit, a partial sale, a new partner or a portfolio disposal. We clarify the project stage and presentation authority, then agree how to position the project and which buyers are relevant. SPV identities and sensitive documents are not circulated as public listings.

Energy Century XXI SRL coordinates commercial intermediation. Where the transaction requires legal due diligence, transaction documents or technical review, those workstreams have their own scope, responsibility and engagement. You know what the mandate includes and when additional services are needed.

What a coordinated sale process should give you

A presentation that answers investor questions

Project profile, declared stage, transaction structure, capacities and key outstanding conditions. Content and disclosure authority are agreed in the mandate.

Qualification before sensitive disclosure

We clarify the buyer’s interest, criteria and role. The information released at each stage and confidentiality arrangements are agreed before access expands.

Comparable offers, beyond headline prices

Price, conditions precedent, exclusivity, timing, warranties and outstanding development obligations must be considered together. A higher headline offer may carry different execution risk.

A next step and a responsible person

We coordinate information requests, discussions and open points within the mandate. Legal, financing and implementation services are separately scoped without repeating your contact details.

How we sell an energy project: from positioning to completion of the mandate

The process follows the project and mandate. At each stage we clarify what is known, what is missing and which decision comes next.

Prepare the first discussion

  • Owner and representation authority
  • Location, technology and capacities
  • Stage and available documents
  • Full exit, partial sale or JV

Information not yet known can be clarified later. The first enquiry does not require a complete VDR.

  1. Clarify what you are selling

We identify whether the transaction concerns the SPV, an interest, assets or a joint venture, who represents the owner and whether other mandates exist.

    Output: objective and transaction perimeter.

  2. Distinguish the declared stage from available evidence

Land, ATR, grid connection agreement, permits and transfer conditions are considered together. An ATR does not automatically establish RTB status.

Output: questions to resolve before presentation.

  3. Agree the mandate and commercial terms

Scope, exclusivity, success fee, calculation basis and payment trigger are specified. The stated seller range is 3–6%, adapted to the project and exclusivity.

Output: clear engagement and remuneration rules.

  4. Prepare the presentation and disclosure sequence

We agree the teaser, permitted disclosures and documents available after NDA. Information that has not been fully verified is identified as such.

Output: a coherent presentation and controlled access.

  5. Identify and introduce suitable buyers

The project is addressed to counterparties relevant to its technology, size and stage, within the mandate. Interest is qualified before discussions expand.

Output: discussions with a purpose and matching criteria.

  6. Coordinate the offer, review and open points

We compare offer terms and organise questions. Legal due diligence and transaction documents are separately contracted when requested.

Output: a basis for deciding whether to proceed and negotiate.

  7. Track agreed conditions through completion of the mandate

We coordinate the commercial steps and outstanding points. Transfer and payment follow transaction documents, rather than a promised deadline on a website.

Output: visible progress and defined responsibilities.

A full sale, a partnership or an operating asset?

A full exit

Preparation focuses on what the buyer takes over and which obligations survive transfer. Price, warranties and payment conditions must be read together.

Capital while retaining an interest

A JV or partial sale raises questions about control, contributions, development funding and future exit. Commercial alignment comes before legal documentation.

An operating plant

The discussion extends to generation, revenues, contracts, performance, maintenance and existing obligations. An operating asset requires a different review from a development-stage project.

Technology changes the questions that need asking.

One coordination approach, with project information adapted to technology and stage.

Solar PV

MW AC and MWp must be distinguished. The project profile connects land, grid, permitting and remaining investment; operating assets also require generation and contractual context.

Wind

Capacity alone does not describe the project. Site, rights, studies, grid access and permitting conditions need development and execution context.

Standalone BESS

Power in MW, energy in MWh and duration are distinct. Import/export, grid access, configuration and revenue assumptions must be clarified for the specific project.

Hybrid PV + BESS / wind + BESS

Consider components and their interface together: capacities, configuration, grid access, operating conditions and responsibilities. Adding two capacities does not fully describe a hybrid project.

From RTB projects to operating assets: end-to-end intermediation.

Energy Century XXI SRL has delivered more than 25 successful project intermediations over the past two years. Its experience includes end-to-end coordination of the RTB projects and operating assets illustrated below.

The stated experience includes PV+BESS, standalone storage and operating solar assets. The configurations below illustrate projects intermediated end to end by Energy Century XXI SRL. Client identities and confidential mandate information are protected.

Past experience informs the process; your engagement is designed around your project’s own position.

PV figures are reported in MW; the MW AC/MWp basis is clarified in each project file. For BESS, MW denotes power and hours the reported duration; equivalent MWh is calculated as MW × hours. These examples do not establish sale availability and are not an audit of project files; documents and identities remain confidential.

Practical questions

Is an ATR enough to describe a project as RTB?

No. Land rights, permitting, grid documentation and remaining conditions must be reviewed together. We distinguish the declared stage from the stage supported by documents.

Are the projects on the map for sale?

The map is a market-information resource. Inclusion does not establish availability for sale, a mandate or a right to present a project. Matching is based on actual availability and authority.

What should I send first?

Your role, technology, capacity, location or investment geography, stage and objective. Select “I do not know yet” where appropriate. Sensitive documents follow only through an agreed private channel.

Can a buyer also request financing or legal advice?

Yes. Select related services in one enquiry. Your contact details are recorded once; the optional workstreams and their fees are agreed separately.

Is a sale or financing outcome guaranteed?

No. Price, timing, buyer availability and financing decisions depend on the project, counterparties and diligence. Submitting an enquiry does not create a mandate.

Must I accept exclusivity?

Exclusivity is discussed before the mandate. The stated fee is lower for exclusive mandates and higher for non-exclusive mandates within the 3–6% range. Duration, duties and exceptions must be expressly agreed.

Can a project be presented anonymously?

An anonymised presentation can be agreed within the mandate. Location, size or combinations of documents may indirectly identify a project, so the level of detail is agreed rather than assumed.

How is price approached?

We consider the transaction perimeter, documented stage, outstanding conditions and offer terms. We do not apply a universal EUR/MW price or guarantee a sale price.
